The times shown are all wrong. Why?

Make sure that the daylight savings check-box at the bottom of the Atlas window is set correctly for your location. In most places in the northern hemisphere, this box should be checked between April and October.

Also make sure that your Home Location is correctly specified at the bottom of the Atlas Window.

I edited a city in the Atlas but nothing happened. Why?

If you make a change in the Atlas you must re-drag that city to wherever else it is used in the program, i.e., the Time Bar or Info Panel. This is because when you drag a city out of the Atlas, the software is making a copy of the data. If that data is later changed in the Atlas, it only affects the data in the Atlas and not anywhere else in the program.

I am having problems with weather reports.

Time Palette's weather data is provided by NOAA and sometimes their servers are down, or certain weather stations fail to respond or do not provide data. This is something that's beyond our control.

You can search for weather stations on NOAA's webpage:

Under the Edit menu, use the last item to go to the NOAA weather station page, then scroll down to the area where you can list by country. When you pull up the list for any country, there will be lots of stations that list only a number and not a four letter code. These stations do not provide online data... You can only use the ones with a 4 letter code.

Time Palette will also let you find the nearest weather station in the Atlas. With all cities shown (nothing entered in the search box), scroll down to find a city of interest, select it and then choose 'Find Nearest Weather Station' from the Atlas menu. If it is greyed out, the city you selected has a weather station itself.

How can I resize the map?

If you go to View -> New Map Window, the new map is resizable. You can click in the lower left-hand corner to choose a new projection, etc. Holding down the Option key while resizing forces the map to keep the correct aspect ratio of whichever projection you've chosen.

How do I add & delete clocks from the Time Bar?

Click and drag in the window's grow box. You must drag to the right or left at least one half clock width (one full clock width on versions prior to 5.0) before you will see any response.

Keep in mind that there may not be enough screen space to the right of the window to add a clock. In this case you must drag the window to the left, or make the individual clocks narrower.

How do I change the width of the clocks?

Hold down the Option key while resizing the window.

I am having some other problem with Time Palette.

You can fully reset Time Palette by following these steps:

  1. Quit Time Palette.
  2. Delete the Time Palette Prefs file in your Preferences folder.
  3. Delete the Time Palette folder located in ~/Library/Application Support
  4. Log out, Log in, run Time Palette.
  5. Specify a proper Home Location in the Atlas window.
